One Nation under Guns

Shame on the United States Senate for defeating the Manchin-Toomey compromise on extending background checks to gun shows - a gaping hole in preventing criminals and the dangerous mentally ill from purchasing guns.

The other day, I posted a list of honorable Republicans who voted for cloture to block any grandstanding filibuster. While glad there was no such phony dog and pony show, I have to revise to list the Republicans and a few Dems who have lost honor in my book:
Lamar Alexander of Tennessee
Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire
Richard Burr of North Carolina
Saxby Chambliss of Georgia
Tom Coburn of Oklahoma
Susan Collins of Maine
Bob Corker of Tennessee
Jeff Flake of Arizona
Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
Dean Heller of Nevada
John Hoeven of North Dakota
Johnny Isakson of Georgia
Mark Kirk of Illinois
John McCain of Arizona
Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
Roger Wicker of Mississippi
Of course there's the whole list of other Repubs I won't even mention who voted against this common sense safety measure.

And the Dems:
Max Baucus of Montana
Mark Begich of Alaska
Heidi Heitcamp of North Dakota
Mark Pryor of Arkansas
Senator Harry Reid, Majority Leader, also voted against it to preserve his procedural option to call the same vote again.

My source was Politico. I read elsewhere that the 60 vote requirement was another procedural move under Senate rules to prevent any revival of a filibuster on any of the amendments.

Wake up America! We the People is not the NRA.

Remember, guns don't kill people. They just make it a lot easier.
