Our Cause Is Just - Now What Are We Going To Do?

We marched, my daughter and I, last February to protest trump's anti-immigration policies. We are now vindicated by the recent, official news release of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Mormon Newsroom which I cut and past in full here:

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued the following statement regarding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA):
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is established in 188 nations around the globe. Issues of immigration and legal status are of concern for many of our members. Most of our early Church members emigrated from foreign lands to live, work and worship, blessed by the freedoms and opportunities offered in this great nation.

How to Write a Bad Family History

Just another day to rant on annoyances. This is how not to write a family history, not how to write a history of a bad family. That's a different subject for another day.

It's just that I came across this opening of an ancestral biography from Wales and it just drove me crazy.
Just 8 days before the Royal Astronomical Society was formed in England (1),
OK, not a bad start. It actually ties to an historical event (footnoted!) even if somewhat disconnected except by what follows, maybe:

heaven sent a choice spirit to earth to experience mortality under the tutelage of ____________, his parents.
I don't have a problem with a little religious sentiment in a family history, particularly if as genuine as possible to the subject of the history, but this is just crass sentimentalism directed towards a modern Mormon audience. To continue:

Y-DNA Results Are In!

And, my fathers' fathers do appear to be Welsh. Remember, Y-DNA only traces the direct, male line.

DNA doesn't lie.

Which brings us to the next problem. . . .

The Shutdown Stupidity

Let's be very clear on the reasons for the shutdown.

While I expected a series of continuing resolutions to keep the government funded until we have a new Congress in 2019, there are a few issues that have come to a head because of trump's mismanagement of the presidency and abysmally poor negotiating skills.

1. Racism. trump's vile language of just a few days ago in negotiations with both Republican and Democratic members of Congress clearly reveal what we all know and some won't admit, that trump is a disgusting racist. He said it. He wants more immigrants like Norwegians instead of from "s***hole" or "s***house" countries like Haiti or "Africa." The LDS Church has recently condemned racism and "white supremacy" in the strongest of terms.

Check on My Predictions for 2017

OK, let's do this.

It's time to review the political predictions I made for 2017 now that the miserable year has ended and we're coming up on a year of trump in the White House. (By the way, my life is pretty good in other regards).

I am most happy to say that my prediction that a nuclear bomb would go off somewhere in the world did come true, but it was only a "test" by North Korea and not an attack on us or our allies. But it's not like we're still worried about that or anything.

Kim Jon Un posing as if he were watching a missile launch--or worse.
I failed in my prediction that even trump would realize that Putin is not his friend. If anyone has heard any criticism of Putin by trump, please let me know because I think he is one of the very few world figures that trump has not criticized.
