Ok, so my paranoid fantasy about Glenn Beck wanting to build his own Theme Park wasn’t over estimated, matter of fact, I underestimated Glenn’s megalomania. Click here.
So, he wants to call his new theme park/city Independence, does he? Why not throw caution to the wind and just call it Zion? But this Zion will cost you a heavy fee. I honestly thought he’d just call it Galt’s Gulch, but whatever. When will this man reign it in? I wonder if Glenn realized that if he builds a city he is going to have to govern said city? Provide services, follow County, State, and Federal Law? I suppose that’s why he wants to make it a business. If Government is business and if your residents are employees, you don’t have to offer them the same rights as you would an actual citizen. Yikes! I know I sound crazy. When I listened to Glenn at the beginning of the week, I could see what his twisted little mind was getting up to. It’s scary to me that I can occupy even a little of his head space.
To me the problem with Glenn Beck is what you mentioned earlier, he is the poster boy for Priestcraft. Now he is even selling his idea for Zion! So much for Isaiah:
“everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And your labour for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight in fatness.” Isaiah 55:1-2.
The craziness of Glenn Beck continues. How far will he take it? Personally I see no limits for this man. My prediction is that he will build his Amusement Park/City, declare himself Mayor, and then start a secessionist movement in Texas. And I’m serious. Glenn Beck is dangerous.
Of course in many ways Glenn is the perfect manifestation of the marriage of Mormon-Conservative political thought. Victimized, paranoid, ignorant, self aggrandized, fear-mongering, self-righteous, condescending, despising the poor, unscrupulous.
I keep wondering when Mormons are going to realize that the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants were written for them? Their sins and follies were detailed not for the gentiles (those outside of the covenant) but for Israel (those in the covenant). and how would I say that without being a hypocrite myself?
In Gospel Doctrine Sunday the question was asked “What makes this dispensation different from others?’ The obvious answer the manual and the teacher were going for was “this is the last dispensation, we won’t be removed.” The answer should have been:
1 HEARKEN, O ye people of my church, saith the voice of him who dwells on high, and whose eyes are upon all men; yea, verily I say: Hearken ye people from afar; and ye that are upon the islands of the sea, listen together.
2 For verily the voice of the Lord is unto all men, and there is none to escape; and there is no eye that shall not see, neither ear that shall not hear, neither heart that shall not be penetrated.
3 And the rebellious shall be pierced with much sorrow; for their iniquities shall be spoken upon the housetops, and their secret acts shall be revealed.
4 And the voice of warning shall be unto all people, by the mouths of my disciples, whom I have chosen in these last days. . . .
7 Wherefore, fear and tremble, O ye people, for what I the Lord have decreed in them shall be fulfilled.
8 And verily I say unto you, that they who go forth, bearing these tidings unto the inhabitants of the earth, to them is power given to seal both on earth and in heaven, the unbelieving and rebellious;
9 Yea, verily, to seal them up unto the day when the wrath of God shall be poured out upon the wicked without measure—
10 Unto the day when the Lord shall come to recompense unto every man according to his work, and measure to every man according to the measure which he has measured to his fellow man.
12 Prepare ye, prepare ye for that which is to come, for the Lord is nigh;
13 And the anger of the Lord is kindled, and his sword is bathed in heaven, and it shall fall upon the inhabitants of the earth.
14 And the arm of the Lord shall be revealed; and the day cometh that they who will not hear the voice of the Lord, neither the voice of his servants, neither give heed to the words of the prophets and apostles, shall be cut off from among the people;
The answer is: WE are no different than the Nephites or the Jaredites or the Israelites. We are not special, the Lord is brooking no nonsense with this generation. So get ready. Repent or be destroyed. “Come out of Babylon.”
