Political Dreams and Conference Prep

Apologies are due for not posting more political points on the blog. My mind has been occupied with many other things including work challenges. Oh, yeah, and I'll have to update on the medical situation. I'm going my first PT (physical therapy) session on Monday.

The President most everyone loves to hate is to be congratulated for getting the ACA off the ground. Who would have thought that a law to provide more access to private health care would be so controversial? I don't think it actually is. I still think it's more the presidential proponent who is controversial as a symbol for significant change in America most of which, doesn't give me much of a problem.

Also, I caught a news blip somewhere that March 2014 was the first month since 2003 in which there were no US military deaths in Afghanistan or Iraq. Since that was my main reason for supporting the candidacy of Barack Obama, I can say "Dreams fulfilled." Unfortunately, our soldiers are still dying in Texas and not getting the services and treatment they need from our two wars, one of which was absolutely and totally the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time for the wrong reasons, etc.

There was this great dream I had last night about disrupting a Republican County Convention. The setting was bizarre with us living in a condo with a huge atrium behind our bathroom. I was taking a shower and heard all this noise so I peeked out the window onto the Republican gathering. I wrapped on a towel (it was not a totally naked dream) and went to grab the microphone. Somehow I felt entitled because it was in my living space. Oddly, none of them stopped me although they were not at all happy. The best part of my rant was when I noted that their prayer was a Mormon Christian prayer and how that might discourage Jews, Sikhs, and Buddhists from every feeling comfortable in their Party. I intentionally left out Muslims as I knew that would just set off some of the party members.

So now on to Conference. I'm guessing that there will not be much said about the moon turning to blood or buffalo fleeing from Yellowstone Park because the caldera is about to blow. That was even debunked on Glenn Beck's website, for heaven's sake! You'd think he at least could link it to the end times and the Muslim Caliphate.

The buffalo fleeing the Park reminded me of the lines from Henry IV, Part 1, when the Welsh Warrior and Mystic, Owen Glendower [Owain Glyn Dŵr] has this little dialogue on his self-importance and goats fleeing from the fiery mountain only to be shot down by Percy Hotspur:

GLENDOWER
 . . . . Give me leave
To tell you once again that at my birth
The front of heaven was full of fiery shapes,
The goats ran from the mountains, and the herds
Were strangely clamorous to the frighted fields.
These signs have mark'd me extraordinary;
And all the courses of my life do show
I am not in the roll of common men.
Where is he living, clipp'd in with the sea
That chides the banks of England, Scotland, Wales,
Which calls me pupil, or hath read to me?
And bring him out that is but woman's son
Can trace me in the tedious ways of art
And hold me pace in deep experiments.
HOTSPUR
I think there's no man speaks better Welsh.
I'll to dinner.
MORTIMER
Peace, cousin Percy; you will make him mad.
GLENDOWER
I can call spirits from the vasty deep.
HOTSPUR
Why, so can I, or so can any man;
But will they come when you do call for them?

My dream claimed no goats or buffalo fleeing the mountain. I was only wrapped in a towel.

Owain Glyn Dŵr's Towel (er, Banner)
Looks like Llewllyn's red lion.
