Huntsman Humanistically Explains Mormon History; Hatch Panders with Palin; and Libya Is Nearly Liberated

So, Jon Huntsman makes national news announcing he actually believes in science and local news in response to a national press question saying the LDS practice of banning African-Americans from the priesthood was "wrong." I suppose it is easy for some to be offended by a sense of lack of loyalty, but here's an Apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints:
Forget everything that I have said, or what . . .  Brigham Young . . . . or whomsoever has said . . . that is contrary to the present revelation. We spoke with a limited understanding and without the light and knowledge that now has come into the world.
Elder Bruce R. McConkie. I dunno, but that sounds like it was "wrong" to me. That's why the Lord had to reveal a new course and "all the darkness and all the views and all the thoughts of the past" are gone. Don't let semantics offend so easily especially when outweighed by much bigger offenses. Let's move on, people.

And then I hear that Sarah Palin, of all people, comes out swinging in support of embattled Senator Orrin Hatch facing tea party insurgency! Are they both as clueless as they can be? And yet, oh my heck! This just out of Utah County: Chaffetz not to run for the Senate!! Jason is afraid of Sarah? (There's got to be more to this story!) Well, it goes to show that politics are unpredictable or at least that I'm not always right. Will wonders never cease?

And, sometimes I am right. Tripoli is nearly taken by the anti-Qadafi forces. Or at least it's looking that way. Five months is a pretty good time-frame for getting rid of a government that has been a thorn in the US side for 40 years, and is unquestionably a sponsor of state terrorism.

So, let's see, W. Bush - two wars, both passed on unfinished, one dictator down (who wasn't actually threatening us at the time). Obama, wrapping up two inherited wars that don't seem to be getting anywhere (a decade is more than enough time), a third wrapping up in five months with very limited US involvement (no US troops on the ground - or deaths). One international terrorist down, in fact, the all-time international terrorist at least since 9/11. AND, a dictator nearly down in Libya who goes back as far as Reagan. And no US Flags being burned right now on the streets of Tripoli. Thank you, Mr. President! (Eisenhower, anyone? In fact, this is looking a lot better than Hungary-1956.)

  1. The President is doing an awesome job; and I got to hand it Huntsman he's showing a lot of chops by saying it is and by not pandering - like some other LDS candidate is :)

  2. Thanks, Phil.

Hope the wedding went well. Sorry we were pre-committed to other celebrations (darn that Nate for gettin' hitched on our anniversary!) And I wish them the best of everything, more passionately than moderately!
