The Munchkin Vortex

Don't get me wrong, I've always loved the Munchkins. I just wasn't sure they should be in charge of the government.

The Munchkins won big the other night. But they are caught in a conundrum. The mandate was from a still angry and unsatisfied electorate, most of whom, do not like the President even if they could never beat him in a general election. Yes, a lot of Dems didn't vote in the off-term or they could have prevented this. It's not like we're an organized party or anything.

But the challenge is, how do the Repubs prove they can actually govern when first, they believe government is the problem, and second, their rabid wing still wants to destroy the government or at least the constitutionally elected President thereof?

Boehner and McConnell aren't stupid. They have to placate their Munchkin crowd by attempting to repeal Obamacare. The first 50 or so attempts in the House haven't worked. They may get their repeal in the Senate if they use the same tricks the Dems used to pass it, but it will get an auto-veto at the White House.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what their agenda is. Oh yeah, the pipeline which is so essential now that oil prices are dropping like a rock. And then there's the new war in Iraq (along with Syria, Yemen, Iran, etc.) since the last one went so well. And of course fighting Ebola, which if they really understood the problem they would get that we should fight it over there so we don't have to fight it here (that actually applies this time).

I still think Boehner and McConnell have to get real things accomplished that will help real people like helping them to get health insurance. Because if they don't, they are next going to have to deal with . . . .
