She was the daughter of Caleb Cotton, and Nancy Meredith. Her grandparents were Samuel Cotton and Sarah Crouch, and James Merrideth and Nancy Fulkerson. The last mentioned was a full blood Indian. She was very proud of her race. They had a son Caleb Joshua Cotton 1780-1850. He married a Nancy Meredith 1784-1846 on: 16 November 1801 in Surry, North Carolina, United States.
