Day 26 of Walking
Molinaseca, Spain

Despite bad weather and an incipient overuse injury, our walk of the Camino is going well. Our days have become predictable, repetitive and simple. I like it.

By my GPS we have walked 280 miles in 26 days--almost 15 miles per day at a pace of 2.5 miles per hour or a little more. We now go a bit shorter and slower most days than we did at the start because tendinitis at the ankle is a problem.

Why I Cry

I don't know when doves cry, only when I do.

I would seriously buy this music video if it were available for purchase on iTunes. I'll put it in here so I know where to find it easily. Best.Music.Video.Ever:

I've Changed My Mind

The best news is that Ted Cruz is now mathematically prohibited from winning the Republican nomination on the first ballot.

It is still most likely that Donald Trump will win on the first ballot. [see Princeton Election Consortium]

And, Hillary Clinton has about a 95% chance of winning her nomination by the Convention [Id.]

There is no way I would do anything to risk Donald Trump becoming President of the United States.

The Founders Meme

Cruising the interwebs recently, I've found some really great memes by some guy named "Anonymous!" I hope he keeps up the good work!

Slaying Dragons

A Red Dragon rises from the banks of the moat at Caerphilly Castle in the Land of my Fathers and Mothers
Recently, I was challenged on my "Quest." What is it I want? What would make me happy?

I tried to explain that I would love my Calling and Election but I doubted I would be achieving that any time soon. The question itself perturbed me because it is the Quest that I want even if I may never reach the Grail. I'm closer than I have been. Every day is a little closer. And will I ever get there? That is only in the hands of God. My part is just to keep trying even if mostly failing.

Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles
The Holy Ghost and the Light of Christ
The Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead, one in purpose with the Father and the Son
We can experience His companionship through the laying on of hands by the Priesthood
and by renewing covenants, repenting through the Sacrament every Sunday
He can guide us in important life decisions
We are to study it out and bring decision to Him in prayer for confirmation
The Holy Ghost also testifies of the Savior and God the Father
He teaches us the peaceable things of the kingdom and to abound in Hope
He gives spiritual gifts to each
He is the comforter promised by the Lord
He honors the principle of Agency and we need not consult in every trivial aspect of life.
We can receive revelation for our lives
But only the Prophet can receive revelation for the whole church.
Sometimes the adversary tempts us with false ideas that we can confuse with the Holy Ghost
But through the Holy Ghost we can discern false prophets
It is wise to remember we cannot receive revelation for others.
Young man who told a young woman who had a dream she was to be his wife. She responded, when I have the same dream, I'll come to talk to you.

So the talk in the Veil Workers waiting room Friday Night at the Bountiful Temple was that Sister Eyring is in failing health and Elder Eyring doesn't leave town. That means Pres. Uchtdorf is the only one of the First Presidency to travel.

Guest Post - The Camino de Santiago de Compostela

This is a uniquely special guest blog from my old boss and friend (who's not really that old). He retired a few years ago and has been encouraging me to do the same ever since I was eligible. We'll see . . .

I sure to love and admire his sense of adventure. He and his wife, "B," are emailing and posting photos on Facebook of their current adventure. I'll let him tell his story:

President Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency
1st Speaker, welcoming to conference. Members watching are under covenant to serve Him.

Conference is a precious opportunity to prepare, test and grow the seed.
We join in the prayer and draw closer to Him. This is His conference.
